The holidays are here and that means a lot of cooking and eating. At some point you’ll either be hosting a meal or preparing food for a meal you’re invited. You’ll want to keep your guest list to family and friends and not unwanted guests like mice, rats, insects, raccoons or opossums. Here are a few tips to keep out those unwanted guests:
Keep it clean-When preparing your holiday meal, be sure to clean as you go. Keep sinks, countertops, and tables clean, especially at night before you go to bed. Cleaning is the best preventative maintenance for pest control.
Keep it closed-You’re trashcans and recycling bins have the potential of overflowing due to your holiday gatherings. Make sure your trash bags are tied tightly. Keep trash and recycling bins closed. Opossums or raccoons can’t enjoy what they can’t get into.
Keep it separated- Mice and rats love pet food. If you feed your cats or dogs outside and leave their food out, you’re inviting every pest in the neighborhood to come on down. Store your pet food in plastic or metal containers with tight lids.
