Squirrels are quite a common sight around the Triangle area. They might appear to be cute and harmless, until they take up residence in your home. Squirrels frequently invade attics, garages and chimneys in the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill area. They are avid chewers. Not only can they chew their way into your home, but they are known to chew electric wires and power lines. Once squirrels set up residence in your home, they will continue to destroy your property.

Do you believe you have squirrels in your attic? Check out the following signs:

  1. You can see them – perhaps you can see them jumping from trees onto your roof or maybe they are scurrying along your roof or gutters. Squirrels are notorious for finding entry points into homes.

  2. You can hear them – Do you hear strange sounds in your roof or garage? You may be hearing squirrels chewing or scratching.

  3. Your neighbor recently had squirrels removed – If squirrels lose their home, they will need to find another one. Don’t let that be your home.

  4. Your pets are acting strangely – Pets can sense when other animals are invading their homes. If you notice your pets acting differently, it could be due to a squirrel living in your home.

If you notice any of these signs or think you may have squirrels, call Critter Control of the Triangle today. Our expert technicians are ready to help you get rid of squirrels.

Our technicians will first speak to you to gather more information. They will evaluate your attic, garage and/or interior for the presence of squirrels. They will also evaluate areas on or near the roof for possible entry points. Possible entry points may include: Louvres, Eaves, Chimneys, Ridge Vents, Exhaust Vents, and Gable gaps. Our technicians are able to use ladders to completely inspect your roof. Technicians may need to inspect other areas and will discuss this with you. After the inspection, our technicians may provide you with pictures of their findings.

Step Two – Plan of Action.

After completing the inspection, our technicians will discuss their findings with you. They may be able to show you pictures. Technicians will work with you to determine the best course of action to remove squirrels. They will work with you to fit your budget and achieve desired end results.

The Squirrel Removal Process:

After your inspection, you will be contacted by a Critter Control team member to schedule your squirrel removal. Our team will help you determine if you need to be home and how long the appointment will take. Each process will be custom to your home and your needs. Here are a few examples of what might happen.

1.  All gaps, openings and entry points will be professionally closed, except for one entry point.  This spot typically will have a trap or one-way door installed over it.

2.  After the squirrels are out, we will remove the trap or one-way door and seal that opening.

3. If necessary, a cleanup and disinfectant of the attic will be performed.

We primarily find squirrels invading properties in the Triangle area during the fall and winter months. However, if you believe you have squirrels, we perform inspections at any time of year.
